The residence was fully engulfed on arrival and fire personnel extinguished the fire, locating three deceased people inside. Sheriff’s Office investigators contacted South Carolina Law Enforcement (SLED) arson investigators, who responded to assist in determining cause of the fire. Although the cause of the fire has not been ruled accidental, nothing suspicious to indicate the fire was set intentionally was found during the investigation of the scene. Beaufort County Coroner Edward Allen identified the three deceased residents of the Chisolm Hill Road home: 23-year-old Johnathan Sanders, 10-year-old Ja’Kyla Reid and 4-year-old Jaylyn Sanders-Nelson. Forensic autopsies on the three victims were being performed Friday afternoon at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. The investigation is ongoing.
