Man wounded in St. Helena Island shooting incident Posted on October 5, 2017 by S Y WoodsOctober 5, 2017 The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting incident that happened on Mango Road on St. Helena Island Wednesday night, October 4, that left one man wounded. Deputies responded to a residence on Mango Road on St. Helena Island to a report of a gunshot victim at around 10:00 p.m. Wednesday night. When deputies arrived, they secured the area and summoned Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to the scene to treat the victim who had sustained a gunshot wound to the leg. While EMS was treating the victim, deputies learned that he was shot following a verbal dispute with another man, who had fled prior to their arrival. Shortly thereafter, EMS transported the wounded man to Beaufort Memorial Hospital for further treatment. As of Thursday morning, the suspect had not been located or identified.
