At approximately 11:30 a.m. on Friday, February 1, a student at Lady’s Island Middle School reported to a school official that another student had brought bullets and possibly a gun to school. A couple of students were reportedly seen playing with the bullets.
A brief lock-down was conducted while school staff and officers from Beaufort Police Department and Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office investigated the allegation.
It was discovered by police that the student had brought seventeen 22 caliber bullets to school that he had reportedly found at his grandfather’s home, however he had not brought a gun.
Four male seventh grade students were charged with disturbing schools. No one was injured and no threats were reported.
