The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a shooting incident that happened on Saturday, August 5, on Sonya Faye Lane in Burton that let a man wounded.
The Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting incident that occurred at a residence on Sonya Faye Lane in Burton Saturday morning, August 5. A man was wounded at the residence and drove himself to a convenience store near Roseida Road, where he met with a deputy in the parking lot. The deputy immediately requested Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to respond. EMS personnel arrived, rendered aid to the wounded man and transported him to Beaufort Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Around the same time the wounded man drove up to the convenience store, Sheriff’s Office Emergency Dispatch received a 9-1-1 call from a man at the residence on Sonya Faye Lane, where the shooting incident occurred. Deputies responded to the residence and secured the scene. As of this time, all parties involved in the shooting incident have been located, so there is no public safety threat.
Throughout the day, Sheriff’s Office investigators processed the scene for forensic evidence and interviewed witnesses. The shotgun used in the shooting was recovered at the Sonya Faye Lane residence and the parties involved have been identified and located. No one has been charged in this incident, as investigators continue to look into the circumstances surrounding the shooting. The wounded man was transported to the Beaufort Memorial Hospital Sunday morning and later flown to the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston for treatment. There is no update on his condition.
